Yogi Vemana University is a newly formed university is the state of Andhra Pradesh in the popular district of Kadapa. Before it was given the status of the university, it was working under Sri Venkateswara University located at Tirupathi. A piece of land measuring about 312 acres was allocated by the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy for construction of campus for this university. :

The university was given this name in honor of Yogi Vemana, who is famous for the art of Yoga practicing and his philosophical teachings. Earlier, the university was called as Sri Venkateswara University PG center and it was later developed as a constituent institution of SVU on the 20th of November 1977. Later, on the 9th of March 2006, it was developed as Yogi Vemana University by the state government of Andhra Pradesh under an Act of legislative assembly. Since, the university is in its teething stage, only two colleges are presently coming under the jurisdiction of this university and the names of these two colleges is given below:

• Yogi Vemana University Management College, Kadapa

Yogi Vemana University is situated at a village known as Ganganapalli about 15 km from the city of Kadapa. The university is maintaining good infrastructural facilities and state-of-art technologies, which attracts students from all over the country towards the university. The courses are designed keeping the physical and mental growth of the students in mind.

The university is offering enough credence to physical activities and games so as make the students active, not only in academic activities, but in extra-curricular activities as well. The university has open learning centers and library and a good hostel life is offered to the students making it a life-long memorable experience for the students. Meritorious students are always encouraged by the university by offering them with scholarships.
