Andhra Pradesh Horticulture University came into existence in the year 2007 on the 26th of June and the university holds the pride of being the second university of this kind in India. Presently, the university is offering education through five polytechnic colleges and four constituent colleges coming under its jurisdiction. The university is also engaged in research activities through its 29 research stations spread over nine agro-climatic zones in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

The main aim of Andhra Pradesh Horticulture University is to offer quality training and education in the field of horticulture to students in such a way that the newly developed human resources can efficiently meet the changing needs of the society. The university is offering courses at diploma, PG, UG and Ph. D level in the faculty of horticulture and the list of courses offered by the Andhra Pradesh Horticulture University is given below:

UG Course:

Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Horticulture

PG Course:

Master of Science in Horticulture with specialization in

o Spices, Medicinal and plantation crops

o Floriculture & landscaping

o Vegetable Science

o Fruit Science

Diploma Course:

Diploma in Horticulture

Doctoral Course:

Ph. D in Horticulture

The four constituent colleges (College of Horticulture) coming under the jurisdiction of Andhra Pradesh Horticulture University are located in the districts of West Godavari, Hyderabad, Mahaboobnagar and Kadapa District.

These constituent colleges are offering the aforesaid courses and some of the departments functioning in these colleges are engineering & environmental sciences, extension, economics & social sciences, physiology, bio plant chemistry and microbiology, agronomy & soil sciences, genetics & plant breeding, plant pathology, entomology, post-harvest technology, spices & plantation crops, forticulture & landscaping, vegetable science and fruit science.

Of the four constituent colleges, PG courses are offered only through two colleges in West Godavari & Hyderabad districts respectively and Ph. D is offered through one college alone, which is located in the district of Hyderabad. Andhra Pradesh Horticulture University is known for the quality of education offered in the field of horticulture.
