Aligarh Muslim University shortly called as AMU is a residential educational institution situated in the state of Uttar Pradesh in Aligarh city. The university was formed in the year 1875. The university got the status of central university in the year 1920 by an Act of Indian Parliament.
The university is offering more than 250 courses in modern and traditional branches of education. The university was initially formed as school for modern education in the year 1875 and then it became the Oriental College and finally it has become Aligarh Muslim University. Students from all over the world are attracted towards the university.
Aligarh Muslim University is a premier Central University with many maintained institutions and faculties. As mentioned earlier, students from different countries are approaching the University for higher education; particularly students from South East Asia, West Asia and Africa are joining the university. The important point to be noted here is that for some courses, the university is reserving certain percentage of seats for students from commonwealth and SAARC nations.
The university is meant not only for Muslim students, it is for students from all religions, creed and caste. The list colleges and institutes affiliated to the university are as follows:

The library of Aligarh Muslim University called as Maulana Azad Library is the second largest university library in the continent of Asia that has more than 11 lakh documents and books. In addition to the above-mentioned colleges, several centers of education like centre for comparative studies of Indian languages and culture, center for continuing and adult education, centre for distance education, center for promotion of education, center for promotion of science, etc… are also functioning under the university.

Sir,Is AMU’s J.N.Medical college only meant for Muslim students?If no,then sir owing to the above confusion I could not apply for AMU MBBS-2013 application form.Sir, May I get admission into MBBS courses pursuing at AMU,Aligarh through NEET-UG registration if I qualify the NEET-UG all India Entrance Examination.
