An interpreter is one who works with the spoken language. They should have deep knowledge in any two languages they wish to work on, their native language and other their area of interest. They should be able to translate a matter in both ways. Quite different skills are required to work as an interpreter. The need for interpreters is in high demand at present everywhere. The interpreting is of two modes – simultaneous and consecutive. In simultaneous interpreting, an interpreter is required to listen and translate at the time when someone is speaking. These interpreters need high concentration and usually this is done by two people, each working for 20 or 30 minutes. The international conferences and conversations in courts need this type of interpreters. In consecutive interpreting, an interpreter translates the matter only after the speaker delivers his group of words or sentences. This work includes taking notes while someone speaks. This type of work is mostly needed in person-to-person communication.

Qualifying Exam

Those who are interested in this field can become an interpreter after their secondary school education if they have deep knowledge in languages. But most of these jobs require candidates who have pursued bachelor’s degree. Majoring of specific language is not necessary in graduation. Job oriented training is usually required for these jobs. Knowledge in at least two languages is also compulsory. Most of the firms require service of candidates who have relevant experience in this field.

Who is eligible to apply?

Most of the firms recruit candidates who have strong experience in interpretation, an interpretation degree or both. Only those who have pursued higher secondary education from reputed institutions can join the bachelor’s degree in interpretation. Excellent skills in translation and thorough knowledge in at least two languages is compulsory for these jobs.
