How to Prepare for the Thapar University Entrance Exam?

The Thapar University, established in 1956, is one of the oldest universities in India. They carry out entrance exam for the MCA program and offer one of the best placement opportunities for the students in the field.  The undergraduate with 50% mark in the qualifying exam under the recognized university can apply for the test. Those who are writing their final year exam of the Bachelor course can also apply for the entrance test.

Structure of TUEE

The entrance exam is a multiple choice objective type exam. The exam is of three hours with 200 questions. There is a negative marking, for each right answer the candidate will get one mark and will loos 0.25 marks each. The admission process is based on the entrance score and the as per the rules and procedures. The exam covers the areas of General Awareness, Quantitative, Computer Knowledge, Analytical Ability and General English etc.

Syllabus of TUEE

General Awareness

It carries 60 questions and the syllabus is,

  • General Science
  • Scientific Aspects
  • History of India
  • Current Affairs etc

Quantitative Aptitude

This session will carry 80 questions.

  • Algebra
  • Complex Numbers
  • Time and Distance
  • Percentage
  • Profit and Loss
  • Probability etc

Computer Knowledge

It also carries 60 questions

  • Basic Concepts of Computer
  • CPU
  • I/O devices etc

General English

  • Synonyms
  • Antonyms
  • Reading Comprehension
  • Tenses
  • Preposition
  • Essay Writing
  • Vocabulary etc

Also a section on Analytical Ability will be there.

Reference Books for TUEE

Since the exam is similar to the entrance exams like CAT, GMAT, Bank PO exams etc. books of these exams can be used as a reference guide. This will include books by R.S Agarwal, Oswal, Wren and Martin etc.

Study Plan for TUEE

Well preparation is needed to clear the exam. First of all be clear with the concepts and also with the formulas from the respective areas. The students have to take care of the time. Time management is the key point in clearing the exam. They have to allot time for each session and follow exactly that. They can also use short cut methods to solving problems. They can take mock tests and previous year questions. They can join any coaching centre and seek help from the teacher for the needed areas.

    i get 65 percentage in 12th class but i can’t get more than 50 marks in AIEEE can i take addmission in thapper university
