The scientific study of human social behavior has gained a lot of importance in the recent past and so the General Sociology paper under Kuvempu University is a key paper in the first year of B.A Sociology. Although a practical approach is much better to prepare for this paper, however a proper analysis of the exam pattern helps in preparing for it in a much better way.

Total marks and time allotted:

The total marks allotted for the exam is 80 and maximum time given to complete the paper is 3 hours.

Paper Pattern

The question paper is divided into three main parts which vary in the marks carried by each question. Part A has four questions of 15 marks each and any two of them have to be answered.  The next part i.e. Part B has six questions of 10 marks each and any three of them have to be answered and the part, Part C has six questions as well of 5 marks each and any four of them have to be answered.  Although 3 hours is allotted for the exam but due to several long answer type questions in the paper a proper check should be maintained on the remaining time to complete the paper.
