The Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GCET) is an exam carried out annually for the admittance of students into the MCA and MBA courses. This exam is conducted by the Gujarat Technological University (GTU). The exam is held in the months of Match- April. Students have to appear for this exam by the online method. Instead of writing on paper, students have to appear for this test online. This exam can only be taken in any of the 20 chosen centres in Gujarat. The eligibility required for one to appear for the GCETE exam is graduate degree in any discipline.

A few of the institutions that consider the GCET score comprise of the Bhavanagar University, D.D. Institute of Technology, G. H. Patel Post Graduate Institute of Business, Ganpat University, Gujarat University and Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University. A few other reputed institutions include the M. S. Patel Institute, M.S. University, Nirma University, S. K. Patel School of Business Management, S.P University and Saurashtra University. The Smt. R. D. Gardi Institute of Business Management, South Gujarat University and Veer Narmad South Gujarat University are some other institutes that consider the score of the GCET exam.

Syllabus for GCET Exam

The paper for the GCET exam will comprise of multiple choice questions that are objective type. The syllabus will be that of class 12, Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE).  The other details are given below:

For GCET MBA (Master of Business Administration):

This paper will include:

  • Critical & Logical Reasoning and data sufficiency
  • Language Proficiency & Reading Comprehension
  • Numerical Ability and Data interpretation
  • General Knowledge/General Business Environment

For GCET MCA (Master of Computer Application):

  • Analytical and Logical Reasoning
  • Language Ability
  • Mathematics/Business Mathematics/Statistics up to the 12th standard
  • Quantitative ability

Question Pattern of GCET Exam

Aspirants who are appearing for the GCET MBA – exam will get 80 minutes to attempt the questions. Paper will carry 100 questions that are of the objective type.  Aspirants who are appearing for both GCET MCA and MBA - exam for them the exam duration will be 96 minutes. Paper will carry 120 questions.

Both of these exams will have negative marking. For every wrong answer, 25% marks will be deducted.

The distribution of marks is as given below:

SECTION 1:

  • Total Questions: 80
  • Analytic and Logical Reasoning: 30
  • English Language Skill: 20
  • Quantitative Aptitude: 30

SECTION 2:

  • Total Questions: 20
  • Total Time: 16 Minutes
  • General Knowledge: 20

Students will have to finish writing the exam within the time specified. Once they clear the written exam with high scores, students can get admission into prestigious B Schools and Institutes offering MCA program.
