Central Agricultural University came into existence in the year 1992 and the university was established with the objective of grooming agricultural researchers in the state of Manipur. The university is located in the capital of the state of Manipur namely Imphal and the university actually began its operations in the year 1993.

The jurisdiction of this university is spread over six North-Eastern Hill states namely Tripura, Sikkim, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh. The university is known to offer world-class programmes in agriculture and related fields. Right from its inception, the university has been functioning efficiently in the agricultural field and is also conducting several research activities in agricultural and allied disciplines.

Central Agricultural University is offering education in agricultural and allied disciplines through the constituent units belonging to different faculties like agricultural engineering & post-harvest technology, home science, horticulture & forestry, fisheries, veterinary science & animal husbandry, agriculture.
