Satyapriya Roy College of Education came into existence in the year 1967 in the name of All Bengal Teacher’s Training College and it got its present name in the year 2006 to honor the contribution made by Mr. Satyapriya Roy for teachers’ movement and for the field of school education.

The college was established by the All Bengal Teachers’ Association and the teacher training course offered by the college is approved the University of Calcutta, Government of West Bengal and National Council for Teacher Education. Previously the college was affiliated to the Calcutta University and it is presently offering education under the affiliation of West Bengal State University.

Course Details:

Satypriya Roy College of Education offers Bachelor of Education course with the following subjects for pedagogical study and out of these subjects, candidates must take any two subjects as method IV and V.

Political Science

Life Sciences

Book Keeping & Accountancy

Physical Science

Mathematics

History

Geography

Education

Sanskrit

English

Bengali

Candidates must also select any one of the following subjects as compulsory elective paper:

Guidance & Counseling

Environmental and Population Education (Compulsory for Geography Students)

Education in ancient British and medieval English (Compulsory for History Students)

Evaluation and measurement of education (Compulsory for commerce and pure science students)

Education of children with special needs otherwise called as special education

Educational technology

Satyapriya Roy College of Education offers Master of Arts in Education course as well in addition to the B. Ed course.

Eligibility for admission:

As far as Bachelor of Education course is concerned, candidates with not less than 50% of marks (45% for ST/SC candidates) either at the UG or at PG level are eligible to apply.

Intake Capacity & Admission Procedure:

The intake capacity of the college for the Bachelor of Education course is 100 students per year. Admission of students is made by the college admission committed based on the norms issued by NCTE and West Bengal State University.

College Library:

Satyapriya Roy College of Education has a central library with a wide collection of journals and books. This library is subscribing for nearly 32 different types of journals and it is regarded as one of the richest libraries in the whole state of West Bengal. Some of the services offered by the library are extension services like book exhibition, internet facility, research facility, CAS services, career guidance service, reading facility and lending facility.
