Department of Science & Technology was incorporated in the year 1971 under the Government of India. The department first came into existence with the objective of promoting new ar4eas of Science & Technology. The department is determined to play the role of a nodal department responsible for organising and promoting S&T activities in the country. The department is mainly responsible for the formulation of policy statements and guidelines. Dr. T. Ramasami is the current secretary of the Department of Science & Technology.
Job Profile:
Applications are invited from Indian citizens for filling up the following positions of Scientist C and Scientist F in Department of Science & Technology. All the eligible candidates will be selected on direct recruitment basis. The number of posts to be filled may vary. Selected candidates are liable to serve anywhere in India and outside.
Eligibility:
Candidate’s age should not exceed 35 years in case of Scientist C and 50 years in case of Scientist F as on last date for the reciept of applications. There will be no upper age limit set for the candidates, who are already working as Scientist on regular basis in the Department. The maximum age limit is relaxable by few years for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/Ex-SM/OBC categories.
Educational Qualification:
Scientist C: Master’s degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences is required as educational qualification for the post. Candidates having qualification of Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized university, are also eligible to apply. Experience of 4 years in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions is also required.
Scientist F: Master’s degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences is required as educational qualification for the post. Candidates having qualification of Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized university, are also eligible to apply. Experience of 12 years in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions is also required.

Pay Scale:
Scientist C: Rs. 15600-39100 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 6600.
Scientist F: Rs. 37400-67000 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 8900.
Selection Process:
Selection Process for the above two specified positions includes a personal interview test only. Shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview test. Shortlisting of candidates will be done only on the basis of their applications.
How to apply: Applications are required to to be neatly typed on a thic plain paper of a4 size. Seperate application forms should be sent for different posts. Copies of educational certificates, date of birth certificate etc are also need to be sent in accordance with the application form.
