Vizianagaram District is located in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India and this district is also speed as Vijayanagaram District. The district has Vizianagaram town as its headquarters and the district is bounded by the state of Orissa in the northwestern part, Bay of Bengal in the Southeastern part, Visakhapatnam District in the southwestern part and Srikakulam District on the eastern part.

The district came into existence in the year 1979 by dividing some parts of the Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam Districts.
