Goa Common Entrance Test for Medical (GCET Medical) 2012

The Directorate of the Technical Education along with the Government of Goa conducts the Common Entrance Test for Medical streams every year. This examination enables the candidate to get an admission for Medical stream in Government aided colleges as well as in private colleges in Goa.

Structure of GCET Medical

The exam consists of objective type multiple choice questions. The questions are divided into three sections. They are Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Each question carries one mark and no negative markings are made for wrong answers. Total time allotted for the examination is two hours.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates who are applying for GCET Medical should have passed 10+2 from any recognized board. The candidate should have an aggregate of minimum 50% for Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together in the first attempt along with English. The minimum requirement for SC/ST candidates is 40%.

How to Apply?

Candidates can obtain the GCET application forms from the prescribed syndicate branches in the country by making a payment of Rs 400/-. Candidates those who are not able to purchase the prospectus by hand can obtain it through post by sending a DD of Rs 400/- along with a request to “The Directorate of Technical Education, Alto Porovirm, Goa-403521.

  • Start accepting GCET forms: Last week of March, 2012
  • Last date for sale of prospectus: First week of April, 2012
  • Last date for receiving of applications: First week of April, 2012
  • Last date for issuing admit card: First week of April
  • Physics Examination: Second Week of May, 2012
  • Chemistry Examination: Second Week of May, 2012
  • Biology/Computer Science Examination: Second week of May, 2012

The Challenge

One of the main challenges in preparing for the examination is the fixing of appropriate time for study. The candidate may find it very difficult if they are an employee. Candidates should make utilize of the prime time for studying.

Schedule of Study

Candidates must decide how many hours they should study in total. Then prepare an effective time table. Allot some space in the time table while you create so that you can make use of that when you are running out of time. Make sure that you cover the complete syllabus for the examination. Keep time for a final revision. Try to recollect all that you have learnt while doing the review.

The results will be published on the official website of GCET (www.dtegoa.gov.in/results). The link will also direct eh candidates to the further details of eth admission procedure. The qualified candaites of the written examination will get the official conformation and detailed score card through post.

Score Validity

Generally the Score validity of Goa Common Entrance Test (Medical) is for one year and is applicable only at the time of the admission period of the participating colleges.
