Panchakula District is one of the newly established districts in the state of Haryana and from the year 1995 on the 15th of August when it came into existence, the district has two tehsils and three subdivisions. There are four blocks in the district and five towns of which the town of Panchkula is its headquarters. The district has 264 villages out of which 12 are un-inhabited and 10 are wholly merged in towns and are treated as censes towns according to the census conducted in the year 1991.

The towns functioning in the district other than Panchukula town are Raipur Rani, Kalka, Pinjore and Barwala. Raipur Rani, Morni, Pinjore and Barwala are the blocks functioning under the control of Panchkula District. Out of the 21 district, this district is the least populous district in the state of Haryana according to the survey conducted in the year 2011.

There were 5 colleges, of which three are government colleges and two are private colleges, 87 senior secondary schools, 48 middle schools, 285 primary schools and a Kendriya Vidyalaya and these records are according to the survey conducted in the year 2001-2002. Government College for Girls, Sector-14:

In view of the growing urge for professional and educational avenues for young girls from the district of Panchkula and nearby districts, Government College of Girls was established by the Government of Haryana in Sector-14 in the year 2007. The college offers education at the UG level in the faculties of computer applications, commerce and humanities. From the academic year, new courses like B. Sc Home Science, Bachelor of Tourism Management and Bachelor of Business Administration were introduced by the college. The list of courses offered by the college is given below:
