Due to the overwhelming response of the guardians towards technical education, Shree Krishna Educational Society, which is running the Institute of Technology for Women decided to introduce a technical education institution to enable the girls belonging to the Purvanchal region to gain education in the field of management and technical education in such a way that they can make a global career.

The institution is affiliated to the Uttar Pradesh Technical University and it is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education for the technical education courses offered. The institute commenced its operations in July 2008 with B. Tech course in four different branches of engineering.

Courses offered and intake capacity:

Institute of Technology for Women offers the following technical education courses with affiliation from the Uttar Pradesh Technical University located in Lucknow and the corresponding intake capacity for each course is as provided:

Bachelor of Technology

o Electronics & Communication Engineering – 90 students per year

o Electrical & Electronics Engineering - 90 students per year

o Computer Science – 90 students per year

o Information Technology – 60 students per year

Master of Business Administration - 60 students per year (with the following specializations)

o International Business Management

o Finance

o Marketing

o Human Resources

Admission Rules followed by the institution:

Admission to first year B. Tech courses: Admission of students to the first year of the B. Tech courses is done based on the merit secured by the students in the entrance examination conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Technical University, which is called as State Entrance Examination (SEE – UPTU).

Lateral Entry Admission: Institute of Technology for Women offers lateral entry admission to students, who have completed their diploma from an institution approved by the Technical Education Board. Admission of students under this category is done based on the merit secured by the candidates in the qualifying diploma course and these candidates need not take up SEE-UPTU entrance examination.

Admission of NRI candidates: Out of the total number of seats available for B. Tech courses, 5% of seats are reserved for NRI candidates. Admission of students under this category is done based on merit in qualifying examination and these candidates will have to submit the application form to the UP Technical university, they need not appear for entrance examination.

Eligibility requirements:

The minimum educational qualification required for applying to the SEE-UPTU is that candidates must have completed their 10+2 and even candidates in the final year of their higher secondary course can apply, however, these candidates will have to pass 10+2 examination before counseling. At the 10+2 level, candidates must have studied biology, computer science biotechnology, chemistry, mathematics and physics subjects. For lateral entry admission, not only diploma holders, but also B. Sc maths holders with at least 60% of marks are eligible.
