Agricultural College and Research Institute shortly called as AC & RI is a constituent unit of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The college is the second biggest campus for teaching of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University with a capacity to accommodate 650 UG, PG and Ph. D students. The college is located at a distance of about twelve kilometers from the city of Madurai at the Madurai-Trichy National highway.

Courses offered:

Being a constituent unit of Agricultural College and Research Institute, AC & RI offers the following courses:

• Bachelor of Science in Agriculture

• Master of Science in Agriculture with specialization in 10 different disciplines

• Doctor of Philosophy in Agriculture with specialization in 5 different disciplines

Admission Procedure:

The institute admits 100 students every year to the B. Sc course and admission is done based on the merit secured by the students in the common entrance examination conducted by the Government of Tami Nadu for admission of students to the professional courses.

Achievements of the college:

So far nearly 2400 students for B.Sc course, 800 students for M. Sc, 50 for M. Sc (horticulture) and nearly 150 Ph. D candidates has so far earned degrees from this institution and at present there the institution has 61 students on the roll for Ph.D, 134 for PG and 386 students for UG course. To add feather to the cap of the institution, three students of this college are holding higher positions in Indian Forest Service, five on Indian Police Service and seven on the Indian Administrative Service.

Placement Cell:

A placement cell is functioning effectively under the dean of the college for guiding students in their job opportunities. Regular coaching classes are arranged for the students for Civil Service Examinations and ICAR. So far, four students of the institution have been benefitted by the placement cell by getting job as consultants in Dhan Foundation. About 12 UG students of the institution were selected for training on entrepreneurship development in agriculture under the sponsorship of NABARD at the Agri Clinic and Agri Business Centre at Kodaikanal. Also, two of the UG students of the institutions got placement as consultant in Syngenta Private Limited.

Library:

The institute is provided with a well-equipped library and it is provided with more than 85 international journals, 220 Indian Journals and 51000 books. In addition, library also has internet and email facility to help out the students.
