Hindustan Unilever Limited is the sub branch of the European company Unilever. This company is rated as the producer of fastest moving goods in India. The company has many branches both in India and abroad. The company was initially established in India on 1933 as Lever Brothers India Limited. Later in 1956 it became Hindustan Unilever Limited by merging with Hindustan Vanaspati Manufacturing Corporation Limited and United Traders Limited. The company has its headquarters in Mumbai, India. There are around 15,000 direct and around 52,000 indirect employees in the company. The company was renamed as “Hindustan Unilever Limited” in June 2007.

For fresher’s HUL is like a dream company. The placements are mainly done through campus placements conducted in several colleges. The placement process mainly consists of an aptitude test which is followed by a technical test and finally the interview. Candidates who clear the initial aptitude test will be directed to technical test. And finally after clearing the technical test they will have to face a group discussion and then finally a personal interview.

HUL placement test

The placement test will consist of two parts, technical and non technical. Non technical will include questions from Reasoning and Mental Ability, General Knowledge, Quantitative Aptitude and Vocabulary. The maximum time allowed for the test will be 2 hours. There will be no negative marking. The technical part will be from the subjects of your qualifying degree.

HUL Group Discussion

Candidates who qualify the written test are directed to the second stage of interview process. Second stage of placement will be group discussion. The topic for this will be given on the spot only. This round basically tests the communication skills of candidates and their presentation skills.

HUL placement interview

Final stage of the placement process will be a personal interview. The interview will be either technical interview or HR interview. This stage is for testing the candidates overall knowledge in the field. Interview is also to test the personality of the candidate. Candidates who qualify the interview are selected for the job.

HUL placement test preparation tips

Samples questions for the test can be downloaded from the internet. Candidates should start their preparations at an early stage itself. Candidates should try to solve maximum questions in minimum time. They can even refer books like R.S.Agarwal’s Quantitative Book while preparing for the aptitude test. They can also refer many other reasoning books also. They must regularly read newspapers and magazines in order to perform well in General Knowledge section and Vocabulary section.
