Oath Commissioner – How to become an Oath Commissioner?
Oaths are very important in a court procedure as it is used to confirm the affidavit used for various legal cases. Oath should be taken before the Oath commissioner as they are responsible for certifying the affirmation. The deponent should be physically present before the commissioner for giving the affirmation. It is the responsibility of the commissioner to administer the oath as specified in the law. They should ensure the authenticity of the deponent before certifying the affirmation.
Qualifying Exam
L.L.B degree is required for the candidates who want to become an Oath Commissioner. They can pursue either five year Integrated B.A.L.L.B course or three year L.L.B course to obtain the concerned degree. After obtaining the degree one should practice as an advocate for minimum three years. Then they can apply for the notary license to become an Oath commissioner.
Who are eligible to apply?
Candidates who want to become an Oath Commissioner should pursue either five year Integrated B.A.L.L.B course or three year L.L.B course. Those who want to pursue five year Integrated B.A.L.L.B course should pass higher secondary examination. Then they should qualify the concerned entrance test to get admission to a particular institution. The most common entrance test conducted for the admission to this integrated course is Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). Those who have completed graduation or post graduation in any stream can pursue three year L.L.B course in any institute after qualifying the concerned entrance test. After obtaining the L.L.B degree, one should complete their mandatory internship as specified by the institution. Then they should practice as an advocate for minimum three years. Then only they can obtain the notary license to become an oath commissioner. They should apply for the license before five years of practice.

In an affidavit can a notary sign in place of an oath commissioner. When i got a affidavit signed by a Notary was rejected saying that it should be signed by a oath commissioner only.
