The responsibility of selection of candidates for Group B positions under different department and ministries functioning under the Indian government lies with the Staff Selection Commission. Positions for which recruitment is made by Staff Selection Commission would not exceed Rs.10500. the commission is also responsible for recruitment of candidates to different non-technical positions coming under Group C category.

Recruitment by SSC:

Staff Selection Commission is planning to recruit candidates for the position of Junior Engineering in Civil and Electrical/Mechanical disciplines to work for the Military Engineering Services and here are the details regarding the notification issued by the commission in this regard:

Name of the Vacancy: Junior Engineer (Civil, Electrical/Mechanical, Quality Surveying & Contracts)

Number of Vacancies: Total number of vacancies is 259, which is divided among the three disciplines as follows:

• Junior Engineer (Civil) – 155

• Junior Engineer (Electrical/Mechanical) – 91

• Junior Engineer (Quality Surveying & Contracts) - 13

Reservations are applicable according to the Government orders and selected candidates will be required to serve anywhere in India. The positions have been identified as suitable for candidates with disabilities.

Pay Scale: Candidates appointed for the position of Junior Engineer in Staff Selection Commission will be coming under the pay scale of Rs.9300-34800 plus Grade pay of Rs.4200.

Eligibility requirements:

Qualification and experience:

Civil: Candidates must be degree holders in Civil Engineering from a recognized university or they must be three-year diploma holders in civil engineering from a recognized university or institution or board and candidates should also possess two years experience in planning, execution and maintenance of civil engineering works.

Electrical/Mechanical: Candidates must be degree holders in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university or they must be three-year diploma holders in Electrical/Mechanical engineering from a recognized university or institution or board and candidates should also possess two years experience in planning, execution and maintenance of mechanical engineering works.

QS & C: Candidates must possess three-year diploma in civil engineering from a recognized board/university or institution or equivalent qualification or they must have passed their intermediate examination in building and quantity surveying Sub division II of the Institute of Surveyors.

Age: To apply for the position of Junior Engineer, candidates must not be more than 30 years of age, while for QS & C alone candidates must be between the age group of 18 and 27 years. Selection Procedure:

Candidates will be shortlisted for interview to the position of Junior Engineer in MES on the basis of their performance in written examination to be conducted by SSC. It is a combined All India Open Examination planned to be held on 08th of April 2012.

Cost of application:

How to apply:

Applications must be submitted in prescribed format as given in Annexure I of the notification either through online or through post. For details instructions regarding how to apply, candidates will have to read the Annexure II A or Annexure II B for postal and online applications. Last date to apply is 10th of February 2012 up to 5.00 pm and for candidates belonging to far flung areas is 17th of February 2012.
