United Bank of India is shortly called as UBI and it is one of the 14 nationalized banks in the nation that were nationalized in the year 1969 on the 19th of July. The origin of the bank goes back to 914 and now the bank has grown into a big bank with more than 1600 branches and a total business of more than Rs.1 lakh crores.

Recruitment by United Bank of India:

United Bank of India has called for online applications from eligible candidates who have taken Common Written Examination for Management Trainees/Probationary Officers conducted by the IBPS in 2011-2012 for the position of Probationary Officers and here are the details regarding the notification issued by the bank in this regard:

Name of the Vacancy: Probationary Officers (JMGS-I)

Number of Vacancies: Total number of vacancies is 450, which is divided among the different categories of candidates as given below:

SC – 90

ST – 70

OBC – 114

General – 176

Out of these 450 vacancies, 04 vacancies are reserved for OC candidates, 23 for VI candidates and 26 for HI candidates.

Period of Probation: Two years

Pay scale: Candidates appointed for the position of Probationary Officers, will be coming under the pay of Rs. 14500-600/7-18700-700/2-20100-800/7-25700 and other admissible allowances according to bank rules.

Eligibility requirements:

Education: To apply for the position of Probationary Officers with UBI, candidates must be graduates in any discipline with at least 55% of marks in aggregate from a recognized university and the required percentage of marks for reserved category candidates is 50% or candidates must be PG degree holders in any discipline with at least 55% (50% for reserved category) of marks from a recognized university in India. In addition, Candidates belonging to general category should possess an IBPS CWE Score of 138, which is 125 for reserved category candidates. Individual test cut-off marks required for general category candidates is 24 and reserved category candidates is 21. Selection Procedure:

Selection of candidates for the position of Probationary Officer will be on the basis of Total Weighted Standard Score of candidates in Common Written Examination conducted by the IBPS for Probationary Officers on September 2011 inclusive of supplementary exam held on November 2011 and marks obtained by candidates in interview/group discussion.

Application fee:

Cost of application is Rs.200 for all candidates inclusive of OBC candidates, while it is Rs.50 for reserved category candidates. The fee should be paid in cash at any branches of United Bank of India by taking a printout of the challan that can be obtained from the website of the bank at http://www.unitedbankofindia.com/uploads/FeePaymentChallan_Officer_2011_12.pdf. Fee can be paid by candidates from the 24th of February 2012 to 9th of March 2012.
