Instrumentation Engineering is a branch of engineering which deals with measurement and control. This branch of engineering is concerned with the study of instruments applicable to engineering work. The study is concentrated on studying the principles of construction and working details of all the kind of measurement instruments that are used in industries. An instrumentation engineer generally work for industries with automated processes, such as chemical and manufacturing plants. Their goal is to make the productivity system more reliable and in the same time, looking after the safety, optimization and stability of the system.
Eligibility:
For doing B.Tech in Instrumentation engineering, the candidate must have passed the higher secondary school certificate exam from any recognized board of India. The candidate must possess physics, chemistry and mathematics in his higher secondary schooling. The minimum eligibility percentage is 55%, but slight variation is seen from university to university. The admission is merit based. The candidate has to appear for entrance exams like AIEEE, IIT-JEE or, various state level exams.
Course Outlook:
B.Tech in Instrumentation engineering is a four year full time course. The course is divided into 8 semesters of six month duration each. Each semester is followed by an exam, which has to be passed by the candidate so as to get promoted to the next semester.
Job Prospects:
The job opportunities of instrumentation are related to the core industries. All the industries have measurement and recording instruments and these industries need man power to regulate these instruments.
