Selection process for Assistant Commandant in Indian Coast Guard
Candidates can get into the post of Assistant Commandant in Indian Coast Guard after qualifying the Preliminary Selection and Final Selection. Preliminary Selection Board (PSB) will conduct Preliminary Selection rounds such as Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Picture Perception and Discussion Test (PPDT). If the candidates get qualified in the tests, then the Final Selection Board (FSB) will conduct final selection rounds like Psychological Test, Group Test and Interview. Those who have qualified the final selection rounds should undergo medical test at Military Hospital or Air Force Central Medical Establishment (AFCME). Pilot Battery Aptitude Test (PABT) is conducted to recruit candidates for the post of Assistant Commandant Ground Duty (Pilot) apart from Preliminary tests and Final Selection rounds.
Preliminary Selection
Those who have been short listed should appear before the Preliminary Selection Board on a specified date. They should submit mark sheets and pass certificate of relevant qualifying examination, caste certificate, character certificate, two recent pass port size photographs and valid Commercial Pilot License (in case of Assistant Commandant (Pilot)) before the Board. If the selection board gets satisfied with the relevant documents, then the candidates can appear for the Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Picture Perception and Discussion Test (PPDT) rounds in Preliminary Selection. Before appearing for the Picture Perception and Discussion Test, one should clear the Mental Ability Test (MAT).
Final Selection
If the candidates get selected in all rounds of Preliminary Selection, then they can appear before the Final Selection Board (FSB). Date and venue to appear for final selection round will be published on the Coast Guard website. Final selection round is divided into Psychological Test, Group Test and Interview. Those who perform well during Psychological Test will be called for Group Test. Interview will be there for the candidates having good score in Group Test.
Main aim of interview is to test the personality of candidates and their attitude towards the position of Assistant Commandant in Indian Coast Guard.
Medical Test
Candidates who get qualified in the final selection should undergo medical test at the nearest Military Hospital. They can get into the post of Assistant Commandant only after obtaining Medical Fitness certificate. To get into Assistant Commandant Ground Duty (Pilot or Navigator) or Assistant Commandant (Commercial Pilot Services) post, one should undergo medical test at Air Force Central Medical Establishment (AFCME) in Delhi or Bangalore.
Pilot Battery Aptitude Test
To get into the post of Assistant Commandant Ground Duty (Pilot), one should appear for Pilot Battery Aptitude Test held by Air Force Service Selection Board (AFSSB) at Mysore or Dehradun after qualifying the final selection round. If the candidates have already qualified PABT, then they should give the information regarding the Batch, Chest number and Place while filling the details during Personal Information Questionnaire (PIQ).
