Coast Guard Assistant Commandant (Pilot/Navigator) 2010




Coast Guard Assistant Commandant (Pilot/Navigator) exam is conducted for recruiting candidates to become class I gazette officer as Assistant Commandant (General Duty) in Indian Coast Guard. Recruitment is done twice a year for the courses commencing from February and July. Selection is done in two phases: Preliminary Selection(PSB) and Final Selection(FSB). Those who are selected in PSB are called for FSB. Both PSB and FSB are conducted at Noida and Chennai.

Indian Coast Guard was founded in 1978 as a means to protect India’s vast coastline. Indian Coast Guard is considered as fourth Armed force of India. It is a highly reputed national organisation and getting recruited in Indian Coast Guard is considered to be highly prestigious. Candidates selected as Pilot/Navigators will get to fly helicopters for surveillance and rescue and search operations. Candidates will get to serve the shore air stations as well as to embark on ships.

Eligibility criteria:

Candidate should be between 19-27 years of age. Also a candidate should have got a bachelor’s degree with Physics and Maths as subjects in Graduation. The candidate is also required to hold a Commercial Pilot license.

Physical Requirements:

• Height: Height should be atleast 162 cms and maximum 197 cms.
• Chest: Should be well developed with minimum expansion of 5 cm
• Weight: Proportionate to height and age (+10 per cent acceptable).
• Eye Sight:6/6(without glasses)

How to Apply:

Admission notification is released twice a year in in the Employment News and all leading National/Regional Newspapers. Candidates can either send a handwritten/typed application form(on an A4 size paper) according to the format given in the admission notification or download the application form from the website indiancoastguard.nic.in.

Last Date for receipt of completed Application forms: December 28th, 2009

Selection Criteria:

Candidates are shortlisted on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination, sporting achievements and NCC. Shortlisted candidates are called for Preliminary Selection where a mental ability test(general intelligence, general awareness and reasoning) is conducted. Candidates qualifying Preliminary selection have to appear in Final Selection which consists of Psychological Test, Group Testing and Interview (Personality Test). Selected candidates have to undergo a medical fitness test.
