Coast Guard is a particular wing, which carries high responsibility in the Indian Armed force. The regulations for joining this wing are not easy. A person who qualifies the entrance examination that conducted for selecting the Coast Guard Assistant Commandant (Pilot/Navigator) can only get into this wing.

Structure of Coast Guard Assistant Commandant (Pilot/Navigator) Exam

The Assistant Commandant Examination (Pilot/Navigator) exam includes two stages. The preliminary stage examination is mainly for evaluating the candidate’s basic skills like general awareness, logical reasoning, data analysis and interpretation skills.

The eligible candidates are short-listed and then they have to appear for the final test. Final test includes Psychological Test. This includes Group work Testing, Interview etc.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Physics or Mathematics with 55% marks in aggregate and should have 60% in plus two alone. The candidates’ age limit is 19-27. A commercial pilot license is necessary for the candidate.

The physical requirements for this post are the person should have a height range of 162.5-197cms. He should possess the leg length of 99cms. Chest should be supposed to be having at least an expansion of 5cm. The weight should be in a proportion to the age and height and should possess an eye power of 6/6 without glasses.

How to Apply?

The notification for the exam is published twice in a year. It will be published in the chief Newspapers and employment news also. Candidates should send an application form in a hand written form or in a typed form on an A4 size paper. There should be a format given in the notification. The application form should be on that format. The candidates can also download the form from the website.

How to fill the Form?

The most significant thing must be kept in mind at the time of filling the form is the instructions given in the notification. The candidate should mention the post they applied for and make sure that they should have the qualifications as per the notification. The candidates should follow the instructions given in the notification described in the coast guard website. Do not give any false data, it may spoil your chance and it is punishable. A self attested color photo should be affix at the place it is recommended for. Try to make sure that all columns are filled and the information is true also.

Selection Criteria

Registration is the first process in the selection procedure and it should be carried out at the venue. Selection is based on the academic performance and the performance on other events like sports, NCC etc. The selected candidates are called for the preliminary test which is a mental ability test. The candidates who are qualified in the preliminary section have to attend Final test .This tests consists of a Psychological test, Group Discussion and a Personal interview. The candidates who clear this section have a medical test also.

Important Dates (Tentative)

The examination is conducted twice in a year, normally at the month of January/February and in June/ July of 2012

Both the preliminary test and Final selection Test should be taken place in Noida and in Chennai.

Study Plan

A candidate should be well prepared for both the preliminary as well as the Final test. The exam pattern consists of General Mental Ability in the preliminary section and it consists of general awareness, general intelligence and the questions for checking the reasoning capacity. The test conducted by the Final Selection Board includes psychological test, group testing and personal interview.

There are certain study materials are available in the net. Search it and prepare with the help of that. Internet will help you to get the previous years question papers and it provide the list of coaching centers provide the coaching for attending the test. The selection is not only based on the FSB test only. After that the candidate should be tested on the basis of their professional competency and then there is the medical test. If a candidate come across on all this tests will be enter into the merit list.

How and Where To Get the Results?

The eligible candidates’ lists are Available in the Cost Guard Official Website. The candidates qualified the FSB test only does not enter into the service. The merit list is prepared on the base of the marks obtained in the test. The candidates who got high marks are appointed according to the vacancies.  The final list must also be published in the website.

Score Validity

The score from the exam is valid till at the time when the vacancies in the notification is completely filled. The candidate in the list is not selected; he will have to attend the exam at the next time. In a year the examination is taken place two times on a regular basis.
