The study of biology at molecular level is known as molecular biology. It is field related to both biology and chemistry. It is concerned with the study of the interactions between the various cell systems such as that between DNA, RNA, and other cells.

Objective:

The primary objective of this course is to develop an understanding of the interactions among the molecules of life. The physiochemical organization of living matter is taught in details. It gives the student knowledge in biochemistry, cell biology and genetics so that processes at molecular level can be understood.

Course Outlook:

Molecular biology courses are offered both at graduation as well as post graduation level. A B.Sc in molecular science is a three year full time course. The course is divided into three parts of one year duration each. Each year is dedicated to a different aspect of study. In the first year a strong subject foundation is laid. The consecutive years are designated to detailed in-depth study of the course and experimentation on the various techniques.

Master’s level course is of two year duration. The subjects are taught in more details in this mode of study. It is particularly suitable for those who want to pursue a career in research.

Eligibility:

For a bachelor’s level course, the candidate must have cleared the higher secondary school certificate exam in science discipline (biology, physics, chemistry). For master’s course, the candidate should be a graduate in science discipline.

Job Prospects:

There is good scope of research in this field. Companies related to biochemistry industries hire these candidates.
