National Institute of Technology (NIT), Silchar offers a courses in Engineering. NIT has three Engineering departments - Civil Engineering, Mechanical and Electronics & Communication. Graduates from different streams can avail the service of the Training and Placement Cell of NIT to find suitable jobs. The Training and Placement Cell of NIT also train students for facing the recruitment process. Recruiting companies are required to follow the procedure laid out by NIT Placement Office.

Placement Procedure

The Training and Placement Cell of NIT handles every aspect of the recruitment process. The Cell has a Faculty in Charge and a team of students to co-ordinate the campus placement related activities. The team of students includes students from all the engineering streams of NIT.

Campus placement is carried out by companies in association with the Placement Cell. Companies interested in recruiting NIT students are required to approach the Cell. Contact details are provided in the NIT Recruitment Guide.

Recruiting companies are provided with the Job Notification Forms (JNF). Formal invitation will also be sent to the concerned companies. Comprehensive details concerning the institution and other relevant details will also be made available to the recruiting companies by the Training and Placement Cell.

Companies are required to submit the duly filled in Job Notification Forms to the Placement office on the specified date.

Each recruiting company will be allotted a specific date to conduct the campus placement. The allocation of date will depend on the details provided in the JNF and the availability of date.

The placement procedure followed by each company will be different. The recruitment can be a multi-stage process involving various rounds like written test, Technical round, Group discussion, HR round etc. Candidates are required to qualify each of the stages to obtain placement. The Training and Placement Cell of NIT provides training to students  for each of these placement rounds. Students are also provided personality development training that equips them to handle interviews with confidence.

Recruiting companies are required to announce the list of selected students on the day of recruitment itself.
