Diploma in Architecture course details


Diploma in Architecture is a course dealing with the construction and designing of buildings. It is a three year course. Candidates who have passed class 10 can apply for the course. Various Polytechnic and Engineering colleges offer a Diploma in Architecture course. Admission to the course will be based on the entrance examinations conducted by the concerned colleges.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should have passed class 10 or an equivalent from a recognized board with Science and Mathematics as subjects.

Those candidates with a pass in 10+2 or an equivalent from a recognized board can also apply. Candidates who have completed two years of ITI training are also eligible to apply for this course.

The upper age limit to apply for Diploma in Architecture course is 21 years. The lower age limit is 15 years.

Course Details

Diploma in Architecture is a three year course. Admission to the course will be based on an entrance examination. The merit list will be prepared according to marks scored in the qualifying examination as well as the entrance examination.

The course covers various areas of study like Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, Construction, Graphics, Designing, etc.

  • History of Architecture-B
  • Management of accounts and Professional Practice
  • Structure-B

The course also features Studio Work, Interior Schemes, Model, Computer graphics and Working Drawing in the second and third years of study. Students are also required to undertake field work as part of the course. Students will also have to complete a project and viva-voce during the final year.

Career avenues are open for candidates with a Diploma in Architecture in Building and construction companies, Design agencies, consulting firms etc. Candidates can work in capacities like Designers, Business Development officers, Architectural Draughtsman/ Draftsman, Assistant Managers, Architectural Finishing Products’ Sales Manager, Project Manager, etc. Aspirants can also choose to specialize in other areas of architecture. Candidates can also purse higher studies like Bachelor of Architecture, Bachelor of Engineering, etc in related fields.
