Courses and Admission process in NIST
National Institute of Science & Technology (NIST) offers B.Tech courses in streams of Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, and Information Technology. M.Tech in VLSI Embedded System’s Design, M.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Post Graduate Diploma in Management, etc are some of the PG level courses offered at the institute. Admissions to B.Tech, MBA and MCA courses are done on the basis of OJEE. Those who possess valid score in national level entrance tests will also be considered for admission.

Admission process in NIST
Candidates who have completed 10 +2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics can apply for B.Tech courses. Selection is based on candidate’s performance in Joint Entrance Exam conducted by Government of Orissa (OJEE)/AIEEE. From next year onwards AIEEE score may be substituted by ISEET score. Admissions to 70% of the total intake capacity are done on the basis of OJEE. 15% of seats are filled on the basis of AIEEE/ISEET score. Rest of the 15% seats is reserved for NRI students.
Engineering graduates/M.Sc holders in relevant discipline can apply for M.Tech degree in the concerned stream. Admission is granted on the basis of GATE score. Non GATE candidates having 60% marks in qualifying degree can also seek admission.
Graduates who have studied mathematics as a subject either at intermediate/degree can apply for MCA course. 85% of the total available seats are filled on the basis of OJEE for MCA. 15% seats are reserved for NRI candidates.
Graduates having valid score in OJEE (MBA) can apply for MBA course. 70% of the total intake capacity is filled on the basis of the same. 15% seats are filled on the basis of candidate’s score in CAT/MAT/XAT. In this case also 15% seats are meant for NRI candidates. Admission to PGDM course is also done on the basis of candidate’s score in CAT/MAT/XAT/ OJEE (MBA).
