CTET for CBSE School Teacher Recruitment
Recruitment of teachers in school approved by Central Board of Secondary Education is carried out on the basis of common entrance exam, called Central Teacher Eligibility Test. A pass in higher secondary examination with 50 % marks along with Diploma in Elementary Education is the minimum eligibility for this exam. The exam is conducted separately for Primary stage and Elementary Stage
Eligibility Criteria
For Primary Stage (Classes I to V)
Candidates are required to pass higher secondary exam with a minimum of 50 % marks in aggregate. Candidates who have completed 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education with 50 % marks can also appear for this exam. Apart from this, candidates who have passed graduation or two year Diploma in Elementary Education are also eligible to write this exam.
For Elementary Stage (Classes VI-VIII)
Graduation with a minimum of 50 % marks is the minimum eligibility criterion. Final year of candidates of the two year Diploma in Elementary Education/ Bachelor in Education are eligible to appear for the exam. Graduates with a minimum of 45 % marks in aggregate along with bachelor’s degree in education are also eligible. Candidates who have passed higher secondary examination with 50 % marks along with four year Bachelor in Elementary Education are also eligible.
Application Procedure of Central Teacher Eligibility Test
Candidates are required to apply for the examination in the prescribed application format. Candidates can obtain the application form along with information brochure from various centers by paying Rs. 500/-. Candidates belonging to reserved category are required to pay Rs. 250/- as application fees. Apart from this, candidates can apply online for the examination through the official website of Central Board of Secondary Education. Candidates are required to provide all the relevant details while filling up the ‘on-line’ form.
After successful submission of application form, candidates are required to take a print out of the computer generated application form. Candidates will have to affix a passport size photograph and sign in the space provided. Photostat copy of computer generated application form and fee payment receipt along with attested copies of domicile certificate and photo identity proof should be submitted at the designated centers.
Exam pattern of Central Teacher Eligibility Test
There will be objective type multiple choice questions in the entrance exam. The exam comprises of two papers. Paper 1 is for candidates who intend to be a teacher at Primary level and Paper 2 is for aspirants who wish to be a teacher at Elementary level. There will be a total of 150 questions. Each question carries one mark. Questions will be asked from topics such as Child Development and Pedagogy, Mathematics and Science. There will be no negative marking for wrong answers.
