Hobbies are gradually becoming the profession of many. Numerous people now a day are opting for that profession which once used to be their hobby.  There are a lot of people who are really creative and willingness to have a career  in music industry are actually pursuing degree course of  arts in music in various colleges not only in India but all over the globe.

Eligibility criteria

The degree course of Master of Arts (M.A) in music is open to all the candidates who have passed their bachelor level degree in Music. The candidates should have Bachelor of Arts in Music degree before applying for this course. The aspirants applying for the Bachelor of Arts in music must have represented the school or college or district or university or state in any cultural activities (as included in the interuniversity competition). Before a student can be recruited as music major in the college he/she must give an audition before the appropriate applied music faculty.

Course outlook

The duration of the course is variable from college to college. Few colleges conduct this course in 12 months only, whereas few go even for 5 years. Most of the colleges offer this course with duration of 12 months. These 12 months are divided into 3 semesters for testing the candidates’ creativity and the knowledge he/she owns about the instruments one is going to play and have a specialization into.

Job prospects

After completing the course the graduate can find them placed in various music industries. There are lots of other options available. One can go for entrepreneurship as well.
