University of Pune invites application from candidates for admission in Master of Science in Physics. Engineering/Science graduates are eligible to apply. Admission process for candidates having completed graduation from Pune University and other Universities are different. Admission for candidates in Pune University is done on the basis of graduate level marks and entrance exam. Selection of other candidates is done on the basis of entrance test score only.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process for M.Sc. in Physics

Eligibility

Candidates should possess Bachelor of Science degree in any one or in combination of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Electronics Science. The candidates who hold engineering Degree like B.Tech or B.E. will also be eligible for admission. Final year students of B.Sc., B.E. or B.Tech can also apply provided that they should be appearing final year examination before July 2013.

Admission

The admission of the candidates is based on the Entrance Test. 100% weightage is given to the scores from Entrance Test for all students except those who have completed their B.Sc degree from the University of Pune. The admission for B.Sc students from University of Pune is based on the 50% weightage of marks scored from B.Sc degree and 50% weightage of score from Entrance Test. Admissions will be under the governance of University of Pune ordinance 181(revised). The objective type Entrance Test is conducted likely to be in the cities Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Nagpur, Sangli, Dhule, New Delhi, Ahmednagar, Bangalore and Kolkata.

Application Process

The application form for admission/entrance test is made available to students through official website of University of Pune. A DD of Rs. 500/- (Rs. 350/- for reserved category from the state of Maharashtra) should be drawn in favor of “Registrar, University of Pune” and attached along with duly filled printed copy of online application form and a self addressed envelope. On the top of the envelope candidates should state “Application Form – M.Sc. Physics”. The documents should be sent to the address of “The Head of the Department of Physics, University of Pune, Pune – 411007” on or before May 23^rd 2013. The details regarding applications of eligible candidates will be posted on the University’s official website. Eligible candidates will receive interview call letter.  The admission is confirmed only after the interview, submission of all necessary certificates and original mark sheets by the students.  Deserving students will be eligible for a limited amount of Scholarship on the basis of a selection process.

Reserved Seats

• 3% seats for physically handicapped students as per the rule of Maharashtra Government.
• 50% seats for all SC, DT, ST, OBC and NT students.
