Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) and Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Aided Management (PGDCM) are some of the PG diploma courses offered at IIM, Calcutta. The first stage of admission to these courses includes the category wise short listing of candidates on the basis of CAT percentile. The second stage includes selection for Personal Interview on the basis on marks scored in 10th class, 12th class and gender diversity factor. Final selection is made according to CAT score (weightage –77%), Writing Ability Test(weightage –10%),  and P.I(weightage –44%).

Admission Procedure for PGDM/PGDCM in IIM Calcutta

The selection procedure for PGDM and PGDCM courses essentially includes the following stages -

Stage 1 – As an initial process of selection, candidates is short listed on the basis of CAT score. A specific cut off marks in CAT is required for candidates of different category. Overall CAT score required for each category is mentioned below.

  • Open category candidates –Above or equal to 95
  • DA category candidates - Above or equal to 70
  • NC – OBC category candidates - Above or equal to 86
  • SC category candidates - Above or equal to 75
  • ST category candidates - Above or equal to 70

Short listed candidates on the basis of CAT will be considered for the second stage of selection process.

Stage 2 – In this stage, candidates are given certain points on the basis of the aggregate percentage of marks obtained in 10th class and 12th class. Following are the details about the points given for candidates based on 10th class and 12th class marks –

Marks above or equal to 81 – allotted points - 5
Marks above or equal to 76 and below 81 – allotted points – 4
Marks above or equal to 71 and below 76 – allotted points – 3
Marks above or equal to 66 and below 71 – allotted points – 2
Marks above or equal to 60 and below 66 – allotted points – 1
Marks below 60 – allotted points – 0

Candidates shortlisted from second stage will have to undergo a Personal Interview (P.I). Apart from points obtained from ‘Stage 2’, CAT score, 10th and 12th class marks, and gender diversity factor are considered for selecting candidates to P.I. The total weightage allotted for each of these rounds are given below –

  • CAT exam score – 77
  • 10th class marks - 10
  • 12th class marks -10
  • Gender Diversity factor – 3 points will be given to female candidates

The final selection process for PGDM and PGDCM courses will basically include the combined scores obtained in CAT exam, Personal Interview and Writing Ability Test. An individual weightage for each of these sections is given in the following manner.

  • CAT score – 77
  • Personal Interview – 44
  • Writing Ability Test – 10

The merit list specifying the names of finally selected candidates will be mentioned in the website of IIM - Calcutta.
