The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) often conducts a national level entrance test (Open Management Admission Test) for the selection of eligible candidates to various management courses offered under the University. Master of Business Administration (MBA), Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDIM), Post Graduate Diploma in Operations Management (PGDOM), etc are some of such management courses. Graduates with a minimum of 50% marks are eligible to apply. There are 200 objective type questions for IGNOU Open MAT. Questions are asked from topics like English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning.

Eligibility Criteria for IGNOU Open MAT

Graduates with a minimum of 50% marks are eligible to apply. Applicants belonging to reserved category need to hold a minimum of 45% marks only. Bachelor degree with at least three year experience in managerial/ supervisory/ professional grade is also eligible to apply. Those who have cleared CAT/MAT or state level entrance test are not required to attend the test. There is no age limitation to apply.

Exam Pattern for IGNOU Open MAT

There are 200 objective type questions for IGNOU Open MAT. Duration of the test is 3 hours. Questions are asked from the following topics.

  • English Language
  • General Awareness
  • Quantitative Aptitude
  • Reasoning

The section of English Language and quantitative aptitude carries 50 questions each. For general awareness, there are 30 questions and for reasoning there are 70 questions.

Application Procedure for IGNOU Open MAT

Application form for IGNOU Open MAT entrance test can be collected from any of the branches of IGNOU. It can also be collected from the regional branches of IGNOU. Along with the application form, students are given with hand book and exam prospectus. Candidates should pay the fees of Rs. 500/- for collecting the application form.

It is also possible to download application forms from the web portal of IGNOU. In this case, application fee should be paid in the form of Demand Draft, taken in favor of IGNOU. After filling the application form, candidates should send it to the address of IGNOU either through registered or speed post. There is no need to send any of the certificates or documents along with the application form. Applications should reach the destination before last date.
