Essential Details on NFP Internship
The National Fusion Programme (an initiative of the Institute for Plasma Research) often conducts internship programme for PG students pursuing courses such as M.E, M.Tech, M.Phil, M.Sc, or MCA. Candidates can take up projects in areas like Beam Technologies, Nuclear Technologies, Plasma Diagnostics, and Power Engineering Technologies. Selected students are given with a stipend of Rs 10,000/- per month (during the internship period). Duration of internship is 3 to 12 months.
Overview of NFP Internship
The National Fusion Programme, an initiative of the Institute for Plasma Research is running under the sponsorship of the Board of Research in Fusion Science & Technology (BRFST). NFP often invites applications for internship programme from PG students pursuing the course from any of the recognized institutes. PG degree must be obtained in any of the subjects.

Applicant should have good academic record. Those interested in research areas of Fusion research/ Plasma physics can undertake related projects at IPR under the supervision of IPR scientists/engineers. Projects usually start at the month of July or January, as the case may be. Minimum and maximum duration of internship programme are 3 months and 12 months respectively.
Eligibility Criteria for NFP Internship
Post graduate students pursuing any of the following courses can apply.
- Master of Engineering/Technology
- Master of Science
- Master of Philosophy
- Master of Computer Application
Eligible candidates must have to do projects as part of course curriculum and are allowed to carry out projects in any of the following subjects.
- Computer Applications
- Engineering Sciences
- Inter-Disciplinary Engineering Sciences
- Physical/Chemical Sciences
Full-time students are only eligible. Aspirants who have already completed their course are not eligible to apply. Not more than two students from the same department/discipline of a particular institute/University are offered with internship.

Selection Process of NFP Internship
Selection of students is done on the basis of merit. No entrance test is conducted for selection. Selected students are given with a consolidated stipend of Rs 10,000/- per month. Such students must be free of financial support from any of the funding agency. Eligible students should submit applications with documents such as application form with photograph, recommendation letters, and certificate of undertaking from the applicant. Recommendation letters must be obtained from any of the two faculty members of the course pursuing institution/University.
