Admission to Master of Computer Application in National Institute of Technology is done on the basis of a national level Entrance exam, NIMCET. The exam covers questions on topics like Mathematics, Logical Reasoning, and Computer Awareness. Those who have scored 60% marks in graduation and higher secondary examination are eligible to apply for this exam. Admission will be based on the score in NIMCET.

Eligibility Criterion for MCA in National Institute of Technology

Candidates who have completed graduation with a minimum of 60% marks can apply for Master in Computer Applications in NIT’s. The degree must be obtained in any discipline from a recognized University. Such candidates must also have secured a minimum aggregate of 60 % marks in higher secondary exam. They should have studied any of these subjects such as Statistics/ Business Mathematics or Mathematics in HSC or in graduation.

Candidates belonging to reserved categories can avail 5% relaxation in terms of qualifying marks as per the norms issued by Government of India. There is no age restriction for this course. Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply. Those who are awaiting final year results of graduation can also apply. Such candidates will have to submit the required documents of qualifying exam at the time of admission.

Admission Process for MCA in National Institute of Technology

Admission to the course is carried out on the basis of rank obtained by candidates in the entrance exam, NIMCET is conducted by the NITs. The entrance test is conducted in various centers across India. There will be 120 questions in the entrance test. Of these, 50 questions will be asked from Mathematics, 40 questions from Logical reasoning, 20 questions from General English and 10 questions from Computer Awareness. Maximum time allotted for answering all these questions is two and half hours. Questions will be asked in multiple choice objective type formats. Each question carries four marks. One mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Candidates who have cleared the examination will be allotted to different courses of NITs across the country as per their ranks in the entrance exam.

Application Procedure

Candidates who seek admission for MCA in NITs are required to send prescribed application form along with examination fee in the form of Demand Draft. Application form can be downloaded from the official website of NIT. Examination fee is Rs. 700/-. Candidates belonging to reserved categories are required to pay Rs. 350/-. Duly filled in application form should be sent to regional centers within stipulated time.
