CBSE Class 12 English Core Papers
The CBSE English Core Paper is of duration of 3 hours and carries a total of 100 marks. The paper consists of three sections. The details of the three sections are given below.
Section A consists of unseen passages and note making. It carries a total of 20 marks. There are two unseen passages. The first passage is to assess the reading comprehension of the candidate. This passage carries 12 marks. The second passage is a shorter one. It is for note making and abstraction. This carries 8 marks.
Section B is based on advanced writing skills. This section carries 35 marks. The first question is one out of two small compositions like drafting or designing posters, notices and advertisements, invitations- both formal and informal, etc. the next question is a factual description or a kind of report. After this the next question is writing a letter out of two. These two questions are based on verbal inputs. The last question is a composition out of the two given. This is based on verbal or visual input or both.
Section C consists of questions from the text books. It carries a total of 45 marks. 30 marks are for questions from prescribed text books and 15 are for supplementary reader.
