The Cochin University of Science and technology was established with a major aim of development of research in science and technology and post graduate courses. The university was established in the year 1971 as a commitment from government of Kerala. The university commonly known as CUSAT has got collaborations with many famous institutes of Korea, France, Japan etc. CUSAT was selected as the center of excellence basically in the field of opted electronic sciences and lasers by the UGC.

The university has a large 180 acre college campus at Thrikkakara and a campus at Kochi which has a view of a lake along with a campus for engineering college at Pulinkunnu, Alappuzha, also known as the ‘rice bowl’ of Kerala.

The university offers you many course both degree and diploma course which are listed as under. At Kuttanad, it offers Bachelor of Technology in various areas like Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Electrical and electronics engineering, Electronics and communication engineering, Information and Technology and Mechanical engineering. All these streams have an intake of 60 candidates per stream. It also offers M. Tech. Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering at Thrikkakara.

The University has various students related services like A large spacious Library, Computer Center, Guideline Bureau, hostel facilities, health care and IEEE students branch etc. CUSAT has at present 29 departments of studies like Department of Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Electronics, and Instrumentation etc.

To get into this university you simply have to qualify an admission test conducted for the same which is purely merit basis. The students can apply online as well. The relaxation is for foreign candidates who don’t require qualifying the written examination or the admission exam. The university further provides relaxation by the rules of communal reservation framed by the government of Kerala for SC, ST, SEBC (Socially and educationally backward communities), and Economically Backward Class.
