Combined Defense Service Exam Pattern
Combined Defense Service (CDS) exam is organized twice in a year by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) of India for the purpose of recruiting eligible candidates into the three armed forces of our country. This exam provides a great opportunity for the youngsters who have a great passion for being a soldier. There are three levels of screening. There will be an objective test in the first level and a group discussion in the second level and a face to face interview in the final level. One who comes out successfully after these three levels will get a great opportunity to serve our country. The details of the exam are as follows.
Syllabus for Combined Defense Service Exam
The Combined Defense Service Exam consists of three papers including Elementary Mathematics, General Knowledge and English. The standard of the questions will be of 10+2 level.

Question Pattern of Combined Defense Service Exam
The questions of the exam are of objective type format with multiple choices. The exam comprises of three papers including Elementary Mathematics, English and General Knowledge. Each paper consists of 100 questions of 2 hours duration. Each paper carries a total of 100 marks. There will be 4 choices given for each question. The candidate has to choose the correct answer from the choices given. For each correct answer the candidate will be awarded 1 mark. For wrong answers 1/3 marks will be deducted. If two answers are marked for the same question then that answer will be considered wrong and 1/3 marks will be deducted. The group discussion and interview comprises of a total of 300 marks.
