Combined Medical Service Examination papers
The UPSC conducts Combined Medical Services Examination for offering jobs to doctors who want to serve the country. The UPSC recruits candidates for organizations like Central Health Services, Indian Ordinance Factories Health Services, Indian Railways, Municipal Corporation of Delhi and other similar Government Establishments.
Exam pattern:
The Combined Medical Services Examination consists of three stages- written exam, interview and medical examination.
· Written exam:
It consists of two papers, each of duration of two hours. The paper carry 200 marks each. The subjects included in the papers are:
Paper I: General Medicine including Neurology Cardiology, , Psychiatry Dermatology and Surgery including Ophthalmology, ENT, , Orthopedics, and Traumatology.
Paper II: Pediatrics, Preventive Social and Community Medicines and Gynecology and Obstetrics.
The examination is multiple choice types. Paper I and II are of 400 marks in total.
· Interview:
A personal interview follows the written examination. It carries a total of 200 marks and is aimed to judge the potential of the candidate in their field of academics and also the general awareness. It also tests the balance of judgment, intellectual curiosity, mental alertness and the social qualities like leadership, integrity, social cohesion, assimilation power, initiative etc.
· Medical Examination:
The students selected in the interview are required to appear for the medical test. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has given the specifications for the medical fitness test. The students who clear the fitness test are selected and are given he required training for the post for which they have been selected.
3. Medical Examination:
All candidates who qualify for personality test have to undergo medical examination by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
