Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University was initially incepted as garhwal University in the year 1973. The university was established under the provisions of Uttara Pradesh State Universities Act. The university is named after the leading statesman of the country named Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna. The university is considered among the ten largest universities of the country with more than 180 affiliated colleges under it. Mr. S. Aggarwal is the Chancellor of the university. The university is located at Srinagar town in the Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand.
