Difference between IGCSE education and CBSE education

In India, there are Education Boards other than the  State education boards. The school educational system in our country is controlled and governed by these boards. Parents should make certain that they send their children to educational institutions that are recognized by the Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development and Higher Education Department. The key differences between IGCSE education and CBSE education in India is elucidated in detail in this article.

CBSE education

The CBSE Board comes under the Central Government of India. There are many Government and private schools in India that come under the CBSE Board. These schools follow the CBSE curriculum for school education. All Kendriya Vidyalayas, NCT of Delhi schools and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are affiliated to the CBSE Board. The Board conducts several school-level entrance examinations in our country. This includes AIEEE, AIPMT, AISSCE and so on. The main objective of the Board is to regulate the education given by schools under its jurisdiction.

IGCSE education

Due to the similarity of the IGCSE Board with ICSE and CBSE Board’s educational system, the Central and State Governments have recognised the IGCSE Board in our country. The IGCSE syllabus concentrates on the total development of a student by providing separate sessions for each skill-development. This includes education, teamwork, analytical and language skills. In India, there are around 130 IGCSE schools, which are located in various cities within the country. A noteworthy feature of the Board is its standardized curriculum. This course has got validity and the certification is accepted globally.

Key differentiators between IGCSE education and CBSE education

  • CBSE is Central Board of Secondary Education whereas IGCSE is International General Certificate of Secondary Education.
  • Students from any Boards can join IGCSE Board in the 9th grade whereas aspirants have to study in the CBSE Board from the very beginning so as to continue their studies up to 12th class.
  • The CBSE syllabus is framed according to the Indian standards of education whereas the IGCSE curriculum is of international standards.

Although CBSE and IGCSE are different boards, the education provided in both these boards have helped Indian students to gain good quality elementary education.
