Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Colleges, Betai, Nadia, was formed in the year 1973 and it was named in honor of the Chief Architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar and is affiliated to University of Kalyani. The college started its functionalities from 9th of February 1974 and it was initially under the jurisdiction of University of Kolkata and was shifted to the jurisdiction of Kalyani University with effect from the academic year 1999-2000.

Courses offered:

The College is offering courses under three categories namely science, commerce and arts. Under each of these categories, both honors and general degree courses is offered.

Eligibility for admission:

For getting admission into general degree course in commerce, arts or science stream in the college, the candidate must have completed 10+2 examination in general or vocational stream of education conducted by the West Bengal state government’s higher secondary education. In the case of candidates belonging to other states, they must have passed in five recognized subjects of which one should be English. In the case of candidates who have completed 10+2 under vocational stream of education from West Bengal or other recognized state boards, they should have passed in all five recognized subjects of which one should be English. For getting admission to honors degree course in these streams of education, the candidate must have obtained a minimum of 45% of aggregate in the qualifying education. The candidate should also have obtained 50% of marks in the particular subject in which he/she is seeking honors degree.

Infrastructure:

The library of the college is equipped with a huge collection of reference books, textbooks and journals for easy reference of the students. The college has provided a spacious room for students union with chairs, tables and television. For the physical fitness of the students, a multi-gym is also included in the college premises.
