Exam Pattern and Application Procedure of CMC Medical Entrance Exam

Admission to the Christian Medical College (CMC) is based on an entrance examination. Those who have completed the 10 +2 level with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as the main subjects are eligible to apply. Candidates should have obtained 60% marks in each of these subjects.

Exam Pattern of CMC Medical Entrance Exam

The CMC Medical Entrance Exam follows an objective type multiple choice question pattern. The entrance exam is for duration of 3 hours 10 minutes. The examination includes the following subjects:

  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Biology
  • General Ability

Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects are included in the first section of the test. Candidates are required to answer fist section in 120 minutes.  The examination features 60 questions each from Physics, Chemistry and Biology. There will be five choices for a question. Candidates are required to choose the correct answer from among the choices given. There will be no negative mark for marking incorrect answers.

The second section is the General Ability section. It contains 120 questions. It includes questions that test a candidate’s speed and accuracy. It also contains questions based on current events. The General Ability section is further divided into two sections. The first section contains 60 questions to be answered in 50 minutes. Section II consists of 60 questions to be answered in 20 minutes. The medium of examination is English.

Candidates will be shortlisted based on the marks secured in the written examination. Shortlisted candidates are required to attend the interview and practical test.

Application Procedure of CMC Medical Entrance Exam

The application form can be obtained either directly or by post. Candidates can obtain the form directly from selected head post offices. The application fee is Rs 850. Candidates can also obtain the application through post by drawing a demand draft of Rs 850 in favour of “CMC Vellore Association”, payable at Vellore. Candidates can also remit the fee using challan form any branches of the ICICI bank.

Candidates are required to mention FC-CMC-V on the challan. Candidates will also receive the prospectus and bulletin along with the application form. Candidates also have an option of applying online. The application fee is Rs 800 for candidates applying online. Dully filled in application forms are required to be submitted to The Office of the Registrar at the specified date. Candidates are required to enclose all the relevant documents while applying. Applicants are also required to enclose the registration fee along with the application form and relevant documents. The registration fee for the MBBS course is Rs 500.
