Forest Research Institute University 2012 MSc PGD PMD
Forest Research Institute University, the globally famous organization which established in the year 1906, initiated with a prime focus of spreading awareness about saving wildlife and environment. The University is established under UGC act 1956, which is approved by Government of India and later upgraded to deemed University in the year 1991. They provide admission only for those prospective candidates whom appeared for entrance examination. The institute situates in Dehradun, which holds all the facilities of a well equipped Institute and also holds the advantages for broad forest research as the location, (i.e. the outer Himalayas) assists that.
The University already does research around forest issues and has an active placement office which is capable enough to place at least 50% of students for sure. They, in particular concentrating on satisfying the research needs of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. At present they offer three courses such as M.Sc. Degree and two Post-Graduate Diploma Courses, besides awarding Ph.D. degree in Forestry.

Structure of FRI MSc PGD PMD Test
The examination consist of 200 questions which will be administered to the candidates, with 25 questions each for English& General Awareness, 30 questions for Research Aptitude and 120 questions for Basic& Applied Sciences. These 120 questions will be based on Forestry, Life Sciences, Agriculture Environmental Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Wood Science Technology.
As the numbers of seats offered are very less and those appearing are many, the selection procedure for examination is difficult.
Eligibility Criteria
The applicants must have completed his/her degree or diploma course from a reputed University with at least an aggregate of 50% (45% for SC/ST candidates) mark.
M.Sc. Forestry (33 seats):
Those who are applying for M.Sc. Forestry must have completed 3 years of graduation (bachelor’s degree) in science in any of these subjects given below from a recognized University
- Physics
- Botany
- Geology
- Mathematics
- Zoology
- Chemistry
Or
A bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or Forestry
M.SC. Wood science and Technology (33 seats):
For those who are applying for M.Sc. Wood Science and Technology must hold a 3 years of bachelor’s degree with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as core papers.
Or
A B.Sc. degree in Physics
M.Sc. Environment Management (33 seats):
Candidates for M.Sc. Environment management must hold a 3years of bachelor’s degree in any of the branch listed below:
- Bachelor’s degree in Applied Sciences
- Bachelor’s degree in Forestry/Agriculture
- BE/B.Tech in Environment Management
Post Masters Diploma in Natural Resource Management (21 seats)(1 year duration):
Those candidates interested to take PMD in Natural Resource Management must hold M.Sc. in any discipline from a recognized University.
Post Masters Diploma in Non Wood Forest Product (26 seats) (1 year duration):
For the candidates who would like to take PMD in Non wood forest product must have successfully completed M.Sc. in Botany/ Zoology/ Forestry/ Chemistry
Reservation:
Set of candidates who comes under Reservation Quota can enjoy the listed below exemptions
- SC candidates: 15%
- ST candidates: 7.5%
- Handicapped: 1 seat in two courses
- ICFRE employee: 5 seats in each Environment management and PMD Natural Resource Management courses only.
How to Apply?
Interested candidates should buy the application form as soon as the forms are out. They can either download the application online or can collect from the center depending on their convenience. After that he/she should take the Demand Draft of entrance fee or pay by cash. It is important that, one should take due care while entering the required data and should make sure that it send back before the last date of submission.

How to fill the Form?
Interested candidates can take printout the application form respective website. After completion in all aspects it can then be mailed to the Admissions Office along with the demand draft of total fees for the test. It is important to take care that you yourself fill the form with your handwriting.

Score Validity
The Score of FRI university entrance test will be valid for one year and the students can submit this score at the time of the interview process.
