DEAR FRIEND

If you need to understand the C language you need to have minimum basics of the subject.

You will be taught C in the first semester which majorly consist of the topics to be taught to a beginner.

But if you neglect these basic concepts then you will never understand this language nor you can design your own program through C language. If you have the minimum basic part then its easy to go through it.

It even depends upon your institute where you are taking up the course .

I will suggest you to clear your concept in C language and also practice some programme like check even odd, prime or not, reverse number, palindrome or not, stars triangle, pascle triangle, Array, matrixes etc...
I will suggest you some books
1. Let us C - kannitkar this is for beginer
2.C - Balaguruswami Standard book
3.c - gODFREAD High level
4.c harbart scheldt Very high standard.

Best of luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 1st semester consists of basic concepts to make you familiar with the subject and the programming language.
the syllabus generally contains,
Introduction to the language,
Variables and tokens,
Iteration and other control structures such as decision
Functions and structs
and some register operations with pointers.

These will be very easy even if you pay slight attention to the topic.
Introduction to C - Balaguruswamy is a good book for beginners.
