you can appear in IIT 2 times if you are of general category, and more chances are given to SC,ST and OBC. you can give gap between 2 times. but make sure that this gap do not make age limit the constraint. The age limit for appearing in IIT-JEE is 25 years. For candidates belonging to SC, ST and PD categories, the relaxed age limit is 30 years |

Re: Can I give IIT JEE exam more then once? I even took a gap after my first attempt
hi friend,
IIT JEE exam demands only two things: -First , a candidate should pass his QE(qualifiying exam ie 12th) in the same year -second, candidate should have his consecutive 2nd attempt. You are eligible according to that, you can appear in 2010 JEE exam since it will be your second consecutive attempt. It is unaffected by the reasonful drop after 10th class. But no drop of more than one year should be there for after 12th class. |

Re: Can I give IIT JEE exam more then once? I even took a gap after my first attempt
Hi!
You can apply for IIT only three times, once you have when you are in 12th standard then one after when you pass the 12th. then you have last chance for the iit exam. So you only apply for the three times. Yes the year gap will matters but more than one year gap will be made some problem to you. So you have to manage yourself. Good luck!!! |

Re: Can I give IIT JEE exam more then once? I even took a gap after my first attempt
Yes definitely as IIT-JEE provides two chances to appear in it and that too in consecutive years. one when you are appearing in class 12th exam and another just after that. you already have faced IIT in 2009 so you have another chance in year 2010 as you have above 60% in intermediate.

Re: Can I give IIT JEE exam more then once? I even took a gap after my first attempt
Yes you can appear for IIT-JEE the second time.
Because you are fulfilling the eligibility criteria for IIT-JEE. As per the eligibility, one can appear for IIT-JEE in two consecutive years after 10+2 with minimum of 60% of marks. You have the required percentage of marks and you have attempted only once. So, there is every chance for you to appear for IIT-JEE. Drop that will does not matter. You can manage by telling some reason with some evidence |

Re: Can I give IIT JEE exam more then once? I even took a gap after my first attempt
YES YOU HAVE ONE CHANCE,
CHECK THIS............... Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination – IIT JEE 2011 Eligibility Candidates must make sure that they satisfy all the eligibility conditions given below for appearing in JEE 2011 : 1. Whereas the date of birth of those belonging to SC, ST and PD categories should be on or after 01 October, 1981. The date of birth as recorded in the high school / first Board / Pre – University certificate will be accepted. If the certificate does not mention the date of birth, a candidate must submit along with the application, an authenticated document indicating the date of birth. 2. Year of passing Qualifying Examination (QE) A candidate must have passed the QE for the first time, after October 1, 2009 or in the year 2010 or will be appearing in 2011. Those who are going to appear in the QE later than October 1, 2011 are not eligible to apply for JEE 2011. The qualifying examinations (QE) are listed below : 1.The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized central / state Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi; etc. Intermediate or two – year Pre – University examination conducted by a recognized Board / University. 2.Final examination of the two – year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy. 3.General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London / Cambridge / Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level. 4.High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva. 5.Any Public School / Board / University examination in India or in any foreign country recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). 6.H.S.C. vocational examination. Minimum Percentage of Marks in QE Candidates belonging to GE, OBC and DS categories must secure at least 60% marks in aggregate in their QE. Whereas, those belonging to SC, ST and PD categories must secure at least 55% marks in aggregate in the QE. The percentage of marks awarded by the Board will be treated as final. If the Board does not award the percentage of marks, it will be calculated based on the marks obtained in all subjects listed in the mark sheet. If any Board awards only letter grades without providing an equivalent percentage of marks on the grade sheet, the candidate should obtain a certificate from the Board specifying the equivalent marks, and submit it at the time of counselling / admission. In case such a certificate is not provided then the final decision rests with the Joint Implementation Committee of JEE 2011. |
