I think you want to know about GATE 2013 as GAE is not any type of exam conducted in India for engineering students. Talking about GATE 2013 i am sorry to say that being in third year you cannot write GATE exam. You can write it in your final year and after your completion of B.tech. So you can write GATE 2014.

But in 3rd year you can start your preparation for the same if you are really serious about this exam. You can study at your own or join any coaching depends completely on your caliber and how much are you sincere about it. But you should always follow standard books to prepare for GATE as this is a very high level exam and to match that level only standard books can help you. Practice is very important as its not only about knowing things but its also important that you should know how to manage your time in exam and avoid taking chances as there is negative marking also. All this will come through regular practice. for that you should solve all previous year papers and joining mock test series of any coaching will also be very helpful.

If you will start your preparation in 3rd year it will be very beneficial as in 4th year there will be many other works like projects and placements and it will not be possible to devote full time to your GATE preparation. So, your preparation in this year will help you a lot next year and you can easily qualify GATE with good percentile.

Eligibility For GATE 2013

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is conducted every year for admission to various M.Tech courses in IITs, IISc Bangalore, BITS as well as some of the PSUs..

Eligibility Criterion :-

A candidate must fulfill the following minimum eligibility criterion for appearing for the GATE 2013 :-

>> The candidate must be in the final year of B.Tech/B.E or must have already cleared his/her engineering..

>> The candidates belonging to the final year of Dual Degree courses or who have completed their M.Sc. are eligible for appearing for GATE-2013..

Note :- Since, 2012..the pre-final year students or the 3rd year students are not allowed to appear for the GATE Exam..

Final year candidates and above are eligible to appear for GATE..

If you are talking about GATE then you can apply for GATE in your final year of engineering and after completing your engineering degree.

GATE is Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering for Engineering graduates for admission in post graduation in their respective field.

If you qualify this exam then you can do your post graduation with stipend from a AICTE approved college.

You have to give the GATE paper in your specialisation subject. So prepare for GATE exam according to your field in which you are doing engineering.

Junior research fellowships are also given on the basis of GATE score card .

Most of the government companies like GAIL, SAIL, BHEL etc hire engineers on the basis of GATE score.

Hence qualifying GATE will help you in many ways in your future. So prepare for it and make your future bright.
