Is B.Tech sufficient to appear for IES examination? Do we need to pursue M.Tech also?


sir, Is B.tech sufficient to appear for IES examination? OR we need to pursue M.tech also?

For Engineering Service Examination, conducted by Union Public Service Commission, candidates needs to hold a bachelors degree in engineering.
Therefore, B.Tech qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the examination and M.Tech, for the same, is not required.

Apart from being a graduate in engineering discipline, candidate must be within the prescribed age limit:

Minimum eligible age - 21 years
Maximum age limit:
  • General Category-30 years
  • OBC category-33 years
  • Sc/St category-35 years

It is also yo be noted that the examination is conducted only in the following discipline of engineering:
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
