what kind of books other than btech syllabus books should be read??

as in every govt exam there is a part of current affair, so you can read current affair books.

While you are doing your B.TECH for other competitive examinations like
CAT,MAT,GATE you should practice some more books.

Just go for TATA Mc Graw Hill books for every subject.Because they printed the books of great researches and professors of IITians.You can also visit the IITs websites and suggested important books.For B.tech I think IIT videos and content is suitable because the syllabus is wonderful
