There are 2 stages in Written Examination of the IAS Exam or more popularly known as the Civil Services Exam :-

1) Preliminary Exam or CSAT

2) Mains Exam


The Mains consists of 9 subjective papers based on the optional subjects you choose and English and essay writing..

The prelims has 2 papers where you general knowledge and aptitude shall be tested..
