Re: Can I be eligible for M.Tech from Metallurgical Engineering?
M.Tech stands for the Master of Technology. Any candidate who has done bachelor's degree in technology and engineering with even passing percentage of marks is eligible for the M.Tech courses.
The entrance exam for the M.Tech course is conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology and is called Graduate Aptitude test in Engineering. If you want to do your master of technology from top engineering colleges like IITs, NITs etc, you must appear for the GATE exam. Yes, if you obtain the rank required to get metallurgical engineering, you can get admission in that course even if you have pursue bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. If you are able to get good ranks, you may get call for jobs in various Public Sector Undertakings like NTPC, BHEL, SAIL, GAIL etc. |

Yes, you are eligible for the Master degree in technology in metallurgical engineering after completing bachelor of mechanical engineering.
In India admission to master's degree in technology is given on the basis of marks secured in the Graduate Aptitude test in Engineering exam. So to pursue M.Tech, you must apply for the GATE exam. For GATE exam, you must have done bachelor's degree in technology from a recognized university. If you have backlogs then you need to submit certificate regarding backlog signed by HOD. While pursuing M.TECH if you qualify the GATE, you will receive stipend from UGC. |
