Hi sir ! I'm currently studying in diploma civil engineering course final year and my age is 20 now. My course gets completed in 2017, probably my age will be 21. I really want to join in Indian army. I want to serve as paratroopers. Is that possible to join ? Or should I do any degree course quickly for 2yrs to write CDs? If so ..which would be good to me? I'm confused ..pls help me

You can directly join Indian army after completing diploma course in Civil Engineering.

You must take admission in Bachelor course through lateral entry and complete your graduation first.

Then, you will be eligible for CDS exam which is conducted by UPSC every year.

Upcoming CDS Exam will be conducted on 23 October, 2016.

After completing your graduation, you can apply for CDS Exam and serve your nation.

Yes, it is needed to have bachelor's degree to write CDS exam. So, you must have to do bachelor's degree to join Indian Army.

UPSC conducts CDS (Combined Defense Services) Exam twice a year for recruitment of officers in Indian Army.

Eligibility criteria for CDS exam are as under:-

- Nationality : Indian.

- Educational Qualification:

IMA/OTA - Bachelors degree in any stream.

Indian Naval Academy -B.E./B.Tech.

Indian Air Force Academy - 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics or B.E./ B.Tech.

-Age limit:

IMA - 19 years to 24 years

Indian Naval Academy -19 years to 22 years

Indian Air Force Academy -19 years to 23 years

OTA - 19 years to 25 years

-Selection Criteria :

*Written Exam

*Interview by Services Selection Board.

-Written Exam Pattern:

English – 100 marks

General Knowledge – 100 marks

Elementary mathematics – 100 marks
